Case Study project comprises of the refurbishment of the Easthorpe (Stroke Recovery) Ward at Colchester General Hospital.
The project involved the soft strip, re-modelling and full refurbishment of a number of wards, treatment rooms, offices and circulation areas and the programme of work was extremely tight to ensure the hospital could re-occupy the facility as quickly as possible.
Following the re-modelling works a significant number of hygienic doorsets were supplied and installed to the hospitals requiring specification in conjunction with barrier rails and new hygienic flooring and wall cladding. Suspended ceilings were replaced alongside a complete lighting upgrade to all areas.
In addition to the refurbishment works all wards received upgraded headboard facilities, which included additional power points and specialist lighting.
Consistent with many other projects completed at Colchester General Hospital, the site area was located in an extremely busy area of the hospital and our Site Management Team needed to ensure carefull management of deliveries and waste extraction from the work area together with the co-ordinated movements of site operatives to minimise disruption to the general public and hospital staff circulating around the site area.
