This Case Study project comprises the construction of several log cabin buildings at the Danbury Outdoors Centre including significant groundworks and infrastructure works to facilitate construction of the individual buildings.
The project brief provided for us to thoroughly research, import and assemble a number of highly specialist and quality log cabin components purchased from a world leading log cabin supplier based in Finland. Each building was meticulously designed to co-ordinate with the Architectural Design and developed with close reference to the UK Building Regulations to ensure compliance.
This was the first commercial project for which the log cabin supplier had been involved with in the UK and following our detailed research into their products it was determined that the materials used were of sustainable timber construction using top quality Finnish softwood timber and the products offered comfortably satisfied UK Building Regulations.
The cabins have proved proved to be very thermally efficient since the timber log construction exhibit an excellent u-value and used in conjunction with triple glazing which was offered as standard by our Finnish supplier.
Amongst the buildings constructed we assembled a large canteen building incorporating a purpose built 'Brakes' kitchen installation with extract ventilation together with several individual cabins for short-stay student accommodation.
