This was a fast track contract which commenced on site before the design was 100% complete. A rigorous VE phase was undertaken in the early stages, which ran in tandem with the construction for the initial months of the project.
The project brief comprised of demolition of existing buildings, services diversions for construction of a new building to house classrooms and a staff room with well equipped IT hub and also included the installation of a new lift and carried out to a strict programme due to the 'live' school environment.
The structure of the building consisted of piled foundations, steel frame, precast floors and roof. Metsec structural framing was incorporated to the external walls in conjunction with facing brickwork.
